THE INSTITUTE OF PROFESSIONAL WILLWRITERS

North Country Wills is proud to be a full member of the Institute of Professional Willwriters.

The Institute was founded in 1991 as a self-regulatory body to safeguard the public from unqualified practitioners and unethical business practices.

Membership is available only to those who pass the IPW entrance examination, or an equivalent run by the Law Society, the Institute of Legal Executives or the Chartered Institute of Bankers. Members are required to update their knowledge and skills annually through a programme of Continuing Professional Development in order to retain their practising certificate.

All IPW members have Professional Indemnity Insurance cover to a minimum of £2 million, and subscribe to a rigorous Code of Practice approved by the Office of Fair Trading backed up by a disciplinary code.

In 2010 The IPW gained recognition under of the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) Approved Codes Schoeme.  Every aspect of the way we do business was submitted to the OFT and has been approved.  Our code of practice includes the proper training of members, the way we deal with clients including offering a cooling off period, published price lists, complaints procedure, the speed of turn round of work in fact everything that affects the way that we treat clients. We are the first and only organisation in the legal field to have been submitted to such rigorous examination and to have gained this prestigious recognition.
